Amory Lovins co-founded the Rocky Mountain Institute in 1982. A consultant physicist, he has advised the energy industry and other industries and the Department of Energy and Defense. He has briefed 16 heads of state.
The Rocky Mountain Institute is an independent, nonprofit research center that "fosters the efficient and restorative use of natural, human and other capital to make the world more secure, just, prosperous, and life sustaining." Lovins serves as CEO.
He has been awarded the Happold Medal, the Heinz, Lindbergh, Hero for the Planet, and World Technology Awards and has received eight honorary doctorates.
