Dr. Carol Gilligan

Carol Gilligan is a distinguished writer and teacher of psychology. After earning her Ph.D. from Harvard, she taught there for 34 years. It was due to her research that the school established its first professorship in Gender Studies and founded a Center for Gender and Education.

Her prime research topic is moral development in adolescent girls. In her most famous book, In a Different Voice: Psychological Theory and Women's Development, she argued that women and men have different moral and psychological tendencies and discussed three levels of morality. She is now University Professor at New York University.
