Rev. John Pitney

A songwriter, land theologian, Earth Samaritan, and United Methodist pastor in Eugene, Oregon, Rev. Pitney coordinates a ministry called "That's My Farmer," which brings churches together with farm families. Since 1986, he has been writing songs, traveling and speaking to bring a sacred ethic to the discussion of land and justice. He has written many songs, including "The Earth Does Not Belong To Us," which weaves the words of Chief Seattle and the Prophet Job together, asking the question that is always at the heart of his ministry: "Who owns the land?"
