Rabbi Jonathan Magonet

Rabbi Dr. Jonathan Magonet is one of Europe's leading Jewish thinkers, scholars and teachers who participated in the Chautauqua Interfaith Conference held at the Ismaili Center in London, England in November, 2005. Dr. Magonet recently retired after 20 years as principal of Leo Baeck College in London which provides future leadership for the Progressive Jewish community in the UK, Europe, Australia, South Africa, and worldwide by training rabbis and teachers. He also led the College's Department of Biblical Studies and is now Emeritus Professor of Bible.

For more than 30 years, Dr. Magonet has organized an annual Jewish-Christian Bible Week and an annual Jewish-Christian-Muslim Student Conference in Germany, and described his experience in interfaith dialogue in Talking to the Other, published in 2003. He has also published several books on a popular approach to the Hebrew Bible, including A Rabbi Reads the Bible, and A Rabbi Reads the Psalms.
