Hector Tobar

Tobar is the author of four books, including The Tattooed Soldier, Translation Nation: Defining a New American Identity in the Spanish-Speaking United States, and The Barbarian Nurseries. A journalist whose work largely examines the relationship between Latin America and the U.S., he was most recently a most recently a reporter with the Los Angeles Times. He is currently an assistant professor in the school of journalism and communication at the University of Oregon.
